In 1948, Wang moved to Taiwan and created the Cheng ming school of martial arts where he taught xing yi chuan and ba gua zhang. It was here, in Taiwan, that he met and developed a relationship with Master Chen Pan Ling, who taught him the unified form of tai-chi chuan. Master Wang incorporated his knowledge of xing yi chuan and ba gua zhang with his combat experience into the form that Master Chen Pang Ling taught him. This form would become known as the Authentic Synthesis form of tai-chi chuan, or zheng zong tai-chi chuan.

Master Wang Shu Jin was recognized for his abilities as a combatant and defeated many challengers over the course of his life, as well as offered numerous demonstrations in China, Taiwan and Japan. It is reported that he is the one who introduced tai-chi chuan to Japan.
